2019 Audi E-Tron Sportback with 500 HP
|Audi revealed new SUV concept in Shanghai Auto Show which will go in production next year while in sale in 2019. Under the hood of new concept there are three electric motors, two on the rear axle and one on the front, combined together to produce around 440 HP and around 800 Nm of torque. A boost function ups power to 500 HP for ten second bursts of flat out acceleration. Audi claims it can go from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mp/h) in 4.5 seconds.
Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, confirmed: “Our Audi e-tron will be starting out in 2018 – the first electric car in its competitive field that is fit for everyday use. With a range of over 500 kilometers (310.7 miles) and the special electric driving experience, we will make this sporty SUV the must-have product of the next decade. Following close on its heels, in 2019, comes the production version of the Audi e-tron Sportback – an emotional coupé version that is thrillingly identifiable as an electric car at the very first glance.”
The motors are powered by 95 kwh lithium-ion battery which Audi says it’s capable to cover around 310 miles (500 km) fully charged. Under normal driving conditions the e-tron Sportback is front-wheel drive, but when the car detects slip power is sent to the rear axle to maximize traction.
