Audi RS5 vs BMW M4 – Acceleration

In this video you will watch an Audi RS5 (450 hp) vs BMW M4 (450 hp) Acceleration.

Audi RS5

Audi presents the new RS5 Sportback in the Audi Sport family with a coupe design what it offers offering maximum functionality with maximum performance. The Sportback is powered by a V6 2.9-liters TFSI biturbo engine that generates a power output of 444 hp (331 kW) and a 326 Nm (443 lb-ft) torque available in a wide rev range from 1900 and 5000 rpm. The power of the 2.9 TFSI reaches the quattro permanent four-wheel drive with self-locking center differential via a sporty eight-speed Tiptronic with optimized shifting times. The exterior design is inspired by the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO.

The second-generation Audi A5 was introduced in June of 2016 as a 2017 model with a fresh look and updated technology. As the cards usually play over at Audi, it didn’t take long for the brand to finish updating the high-performance RS5, and we got to see it in all its glory at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. It boasts an all-new look that is more aggressive than ever with more defined lines, wider flaring of the fenders and rear quarters, updated technology, new materials inside, and – more important to most – an all new 2.9-liter, Biturbo, V-6 that delivers a cool 450 horsepower and 442.5 pound-feet of payment decimating torque that’s sure to make your inner manhood squeal like a little girl on Christmas. Of course, that’s the same horsepower figure of the outgoing model, but a serious increase of torque to the tune of 125.5 pound-feet.

So, what does all that mean for performance? Well, the new RS5 can hit the 62 mph sprint in as little as 3.9 seconds – an improvement of 0.3 seconds over the outgoing model – and it breaks even in top speed at 174 mph. That’s not bad, but if you want to feel upset about no increase in horsepower, you might want to take into consideration that this RS5 has a much smaller engine compared to the 4.2-liter V-8 that was found in the last-gen model. But, the RS5 really is about more than just engine specs and performance numbers, so let’s dive on in and take a look at the whole picture before this bad boy makes it into dealer showrooms later this year.

BMW M4 (450 hp)

In a move of desperation to separate its sedan and coupe models, BMW decided to quit manufacturing two-door models under the 3 Series name, and instead call them the 4 Series. As such, the M3 Coupe became the M4 Coupe from model year 2012 forward. The model carried on practically unchanged for the first few years of its young life, but for the 2017 model year (2018 here in the U.S.,) BMW has brought a number of improvements to the M4 that includes LED headlights, 3D LED Taillights, and an updated navigation system as standard equipment. There is a mild power upgraded afforded as part of the facelift that increases output to 431 horsepower, a seven-horsepower increase, to go with a combined fuel economy rating of 32.1 mpg.

Of course, BMW didn’t see fit to do much in terms of visual updates, so don’t expect anything else on the outside to change outside of what I’ve already mentioned. The facelifted M4 carries on with the same front and rear fascias, as well as every single body line that emphasizes the car’s sporty character and dominant power delivery. But, that’s not necessarily a bad thing as the M4 was pretty damn attractive to begin with, so the few changes that come as part of this facelift should keep the model fresh through the turn of the decade when BMW will usher in the second-gen model.
